 FROM THE COUNSELOR'S CORNER
With just a few more weeks of school, everyone is getting "summer fever"! Please remind your children that school is still very much in session, and they need to continue to follow their PAWS and practice their manners. I would like to wish all our Ladson families a wonderful summer break! I encourage you to make weekly goals with your children so that summer can also be a time of continued learning. You might take a week to work on phone manners and another week to practice handwriting. Inexpensive grade level practice workbooks and flashcards are available at most stores. They are a wonderful way for children to sharpen their skills over the summer. And don't forget to discuss safety issues with your children. Because children are often supervised less in the summer, be sure to review the importance of bicycle helmets and stranger safety.
Thank you,

AND THE DOGS CAME!!!!!!!!! They came, performed, and the children went wild with enthusiasm after the North Charleston K-9 unit came and strutted their stuff. The dogs are trained to apprehend suspects, and to find hidden drugs.

Principal's Message
May is here, and with it comes PACT testing, graduations, and the end of one more school year. This is both an exciting and busy time for all of us, and we need your support and help.
Please be sure that your child has all of his or her textbooks and any library books they may have checked out. Our library will be collecting books within the next few weeks and we will start the gathering process of our textbooks. If your child is missing any of these, please start the search early so they will have what is needed when turn in time rolls around.
Of course we are all getting ready for PACT testing. Our children are reviewing with their teachers, and we know they will do their best. We need you to emphasize how important it is that they are in school on testing days, and always put forth their best efforts. Be sure they get plenty of rest and encourage them to eat breakfast, either at home or school.
As we begin the end of this school year, I want to thank you for the opportunity of working with both your children and you, our families. You truly are what makes Ladson Elementary the wonderful place it is. Reginald L Bright
